esther, 161186We feel lonely, sometimes to the point of tears, but we don’t let those tears come because we are not supposed to cry. Or how we feel a surge of love for a partner but we don’t say anything because we’re frozen with the fear of what those words might do to the relationship. -Mitch Albom My tweets

Its finally the Co's D&D again! Last year, due to the economic downturn, we had to settle for a family day kinda event. The theme was starstruck! and everyone was encouraged to be glam and outrageous like lady gaga etc which explains the poster! =) The D&D was held in the MBS ballroom! I've been to MBS several times but its my first time in the ball room! Its very glam and pretty! =) The dinner started promptly at 8pm which was good cos the invite told us to reach at 530! I was late and only reached ard 715! Thank god for that if nt i'll juz be wasting my time away! The first course was the usual cold platter. Fish maw soup which I liked as compared to sharksfin soup! =) The soup all came in single bowl so no need to scoop for everyone else! Lotsa fresh ingredients inside too! Steam fish. The usual chinese dinner fare. Roasted chicken with prawn cracker. Stir fried Udon noodles which I felt was so so only. The udon was not QQ anymore which I didnt like. I pref ee-fu mee anytime really! >.< The highlight of the day! Dessert buffet! I <3 I guess its probably there were so few of the normal courses. most dinners nowadays tended to have dessert buffet! They keep replenishing the dessert too! Finally a photo of the batchies! =) Its all that's left! =) Fun fun night! <3 Labels: food, marina bay sands, work Tuesday, September 14, 2010
last wk was relaxing training week in office. together with WDA, our co sponsored all of us to undergo grooming lessons in Carrie Modeling agency. This was the set up that greeted us. During the 1.5 days of trng, lotsa hot hot hot models came in and out of the agency! =) the all-in-one compact free gift given to us. i doubt i'll b using much of it. i soiled my prev lanyard when a drink spilled in my bag so i am using the uber cutesy lanyard now! we are going to MBS for our D&D this year! Yipee! =) Labels: dinner and dance, marina bay sands, work Saturday, July 31, 2010
My virgin shanghai trip was more work than sight seeing. wot a bummer but nevertheless, i manage to spent most of the money I brought there on food! Look at the types of lays chips they have! Lime/blueberry/kiwi and cucumber! So far I've tried the lime and cucumber and the lime is nt bad. I've never liked cucumber even if its with chicken rice. eww.. it has that green green taste. Super interesting pearl milk tea in a cup! I've never opened up to try this tho' but i doubt it'll be better than Koi/Eskimo.. And look at all the Pretz and Pocky I bought! I am a sucker for anything cutsey! as can be seen from the cute doraemon! Socks are very cheap in china too! That cute Homer H&M socks is so for P! and lastly I bot this kungfu manual like notebook from one of those tourisy streets for gifts! and all those alone, my luggage could close so much so that I have to sit on it! ||-_- Labels: shanghai, shopping, travel, work Friday, July 30, 2010
When I knew I was going to SH on job, everyone was telling me abt the EXPO and I tot I'd never gt to go, until the client bought tix and treated us to a trip to EXPO =) So here we are on the train in SH! The MRT tix! Its similar to our MRT card before we had the EZ Link Card. My colleagues! =) Tho' you cant seem them very well haha. The train is like direct to the expo area and they have this monitor to show us how many people there are in the EXPO at that point in time! like 400k! omg I felt like fainting when I saw that! And we finally reached the entrance! Empty gates. The queues were prob worse before this. I cant imagine. My entrance tix! =) And we are in! The expo is actually an exhibition of all the countries in the world, and in each country's pavilion, they have the autonomy to design it in such a way that best represents them! The area is huge and the queue were long so sadly we didnt go to each of the country's pavilion, we only went to 4 and here are some photos of the exterior of some of the rest! We went into Angola's pavilion cos the queue was rather reasonable, but there was nth much inside. They have their history, culture, trade and a food stall! =) One is nt allowed to bring filled water bottle into the premise but you are allowed to bring in bottled water. I have no idea why. But here's the bottle fillng area! =) This i think is USA's pavilion. Super cool! Like needles from a box or sth.. And we queued for Italy's pavilion A wall filled with greetings at the entrance! A model of a church. Pinocchio making in progress! I seriously didnt know pinocchio is italian! And the girls go wild over this shoes on a shoe! An impressive band fixture on a wall! check out the drums and the grand piano! That must be some strong nail to fix it there! An installation of cool designer chairs! And have you seen such a huge chandelier before? We also went to the Iceland pavilion which is totally not worth mentioning. We queued 1 hr to watch a 15mins video which I could have watched online. The other more interesting pavilion is that of spain! Its made up of rattan like material on the outside. And we almost died when we went in, cos there's this hot spanish girl dancing away and everyone was juz pushing to go forward to see her upskirt moments cos her skirt will swirl as she dance away. The scariest baby on earth! this 2 storeys tall giant life-like baby that display emotions. The details are so intricate down to the very detail of the prints on the sole even tho' I have no idea how this is representative of spain. The most talked about pavilion has gotta b the China pavilion, from wot I heard, you have to start queuing at 6am in order to secure a chance to get in, otherwise you can forget abt it =\ but its one of the pavilion that will not be torn down even after the expo ended, so we dont have to kancheong =) The flags of the world representative of all the pavilions within! =) Its a tiring and hot day indeed! Sunday morning is the most tourisy day I've had in SH. In the morning bright and shiny, we woke up and headed to Cheng Huang Miao. A temple area located in Puxi for this Nan Xiang XLB, reportedly the best XLB in SH! and wots a trip to SH without XLB when SH is like supposedly the land of XLBs. The restaurant is 4 storeys high, and with each level you climb, the price of the XLB gets more ex. featured below is the price for takeaway only. However the pricier option is not without justisification. Its cos they have more premium filling inside like crab roe etc.. If you are salivating, they have 2 branches in SG too! One at Bugis Junction and the other one at City Sq Mall =) Sandy placed our orders and came bk with this poker chip! Cos it takes 20mins to steam a batch, so they serve in a systematic manner such that everyone sit down and they serve all at once, once when everyone serve finish then the 2nd batch sits and they serve and it goes on for the whole day, so the chip colour essentially also means 1 batch full of people! =) That also means you have to wait quite long for ur turn =\ Our ginger. We have to pay for our own ginger. Pay more if you want more. =X Vinegar is free flow tho' When I tot I was gonna die of hunger and go up to heaven, the steaming XLB's arrive! There were 16 of them and we ate 8 each! almost died again cos I was too full hurhur. The xlbs were fantabulous tho! The crowd certainly doesnt lie! =) Then we went for a walk along the super bz street of Cheng Huang Miao. We didnt go into the temple tho' cos even though its a place of worship, one have to pay to get in. Its that commercialised in China.. And pass by a beautiful garden and we didnt enter too cos it was too hot and we did not have the mood to go in! =) Cute geese we saw in the area! We wanted a breather and ventured to the less crowded parts and saw this little small alleys where one can go in to pray for 太岁. I have no idea how it works tho' but there are several alleys of those. Very interesting! =) A yummy snack that Sandy recommended, but I did not try cos its like red bean paste and if i've never mention before, I'm nt into those pastey stuff. And we also saw a mosque in that area! very unique and outside there is a vendor selling those pancakes like wot you'd see in XinJiang area of China =) Nanxiang Steam Bun Restaurant 85号 Yuyuan Rd Jing'an, Shanghai, China 021-63554206 Labels: food, shanghai, travel, work |
