We feel lonely, sometimes to the point of tears, but we don’t let those tears come because we are not supposed to cry. Or how we feel a surge of love for a partner but we don’t say anything because we’re frozen with the fear of what those words might do to the relationship.

Cos Kunnie suggested Jap food and I didnt wanna eat the usual fare of Sushi Tei, we headed to Hong Leong Shopping Center along West Coast Road for Chako. Although its called Hong Leong Shopping Center, its not really a shopping center per se. Its just make up of a few pet shops, 2nd hand car dealers and several Jap eateries prob cos its near the Singapore Japanese school!
Here we are at the very traditional entrance to Chako!
A reminder if you are thinking of patronizing Chako! Do not come here if you are HUNGRY!
Its not that the food is not good but they only start to prepare the food when you order, so do not be surprise when you have to wait up to 45mins for your food! and that is if ur lucky! There is only one Jap Obasan and her hubby plus one assistant tending the less than 20 seater eatery.
I unfortunately had to wait almost 1hr 30mins for my meal! I was already full from pinching everyone elses's food by then.
But here are the appetizers!
Japanese cold tofu! Kunnie really like this and kept urging us to try!
My seaweed lotus root appetizer! I love this! It reminds me of wasabei tei and their seaweed! =)
Refreshing salad with yummy mash potato at the side! I finished all of this! =)
YK and Kun both ordered unagi. The unagi here is very different from the usual ones we eat at its not grilled and lathered with multiple layers of teriyaki sauce that we are familiar with but it seems baked and not too salty. Definitely a healthier choice!
P's omelette! This is super nice! even though i didnt know if omelette is an authentic jap food anot!
My makeral simmered in miso sauce. By looking at the fish, you can see how long it took to cook and simmer this fish thats why it took so long to serve.
Boon's curry! I didnt get to try it but he finished every bit of it so i guess its yummy! =)
P's sesame icecream! The icecream is homemade and the fruits is yummy!
Overall Chako is quite an authentic jap restaurant as most of the stuff on the menu is different from the usual japanese fare we are used to! The price is reasonable as well but its strongly recommended to order your food before your arrival so you need not wait.
