theres a cause for celebration everyday and anyday and we simply love good food! so here we are after having me postpone on them once, due to work commitments, we are finally celebrating hooiying's change of job! she chose a quaint little french restaurant in town. <3 the deco, i've never bn to france so i dont recognize the places in the pictures etc but dearest estella went to some of them already. i'm super jealous! so anyway, this is definitely an authentic restaurant. the owner n his wife is french and they speak with a thick french accent and they also have a pretty singaporean lady helper =)
dearest hy with the sweet apple cider! the apple cider is yummy! tasted alot like sparkling juice =)
and for starters, we had bread. which is supposed to go with the escargot! we totally had no idea! its my virgin attempt at escargot digging!
so here are the snails! i was a little apprehensive initially but since they were pretty into it, we went ahead to order =)
it's a fantastic choice! this is my first ever attempt in getting out the meat! i <3 the greenish olive oil paste smeared on the escargot! yums! the 1st one was easy to remove, but i didnt have much luck with the 2nd escargot i got and i had to render the help of hy the master of escargot picking! tastewise, i felt tt it tasted like topshell, so it was okies. i'd love to try them again! =)
our usual modus operandi is to have 1 starter and 2 mains. so here is our first main chosen by yours truely! its a crepe restaurant so we had to have crepe! this is smoked salmon crepe. i forgot the exact french name but this is ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! i <3 the smoke salmon!
Our 2nd main was chosen by estella, cos she have tried it in austria before and wanna relive her memories. its the raclette its a dish with cheese. but first here's the potato to go with the cheese. note that the potatoes are on this hot tefal plate which is very cool! it ensures that your food is warm all the time! and of course there are other uses to this tefal thingy.
the swiss cheese we had. we were actually given this plate to put the cheese onto. and the plate would have to be slot under the potato thingy. there's actual a slot and they have the heaters inside such that the cheese will melt and you can enjoy the warm cheese over your potatoes! i was so fascinated tt i forgot to take pix oops. heh.
and did you think we were only having cheese and potatoes, of course we had a cold platter of meat. it is meant to eat together with the cheese and potatoes. i dont realli know wot kinda meat we have there. but they are all delicious! my fave part of this dish? it has gotta be the quail egg! haha. we were too full for dessert thereafter which is such a pity!! i've heard alot about how fantabulous the dessert is! i will definitely go back for dessert next visit!
