We feel lonely, sometimes to the point of tears, but we don’t let those tears come because we are not supposed to cry. Or how we feel a surge of love for a partner but we don’t say anything because we’re frozen with the fear of what those words might do to the relationship.

I finally uploaded all the photos from my cam!! so here goes:
In case you have been living under some rock somewhere, the 2nd last wk of March is Restaurant week in Singers! So what is restaurant week? It is a culinary event previously held successfully in cities like Amsterdam and New York that sees fine dining and mid-market restaurants offering a three-course menu for a special fixed price during a one-week period. It's pioneered by DiningCity.com, an online restaurant guide which now features Singapore restaurants as well. For Restaurant Week in Singapore, you'll get to choose from more than 50 restaurants including Absinthe, Garibaldi, FiftyThree, Bedrock Bar & Grill, The Cliff, Mimolette, The Nautilus Project, Novus, Brasserie Wolf, One On The Bund, Oso Ristorante, OTTO, Picotin, The Prime Society, The White Rabbit, Krish, Private Affairs, Tatsuya, The Song of India and Takumi Tokyo. They will be offering a S$25++ three-course lunch and S$35++ three-course dinner from 22 to 28 March 2010.
the above excerpt is taken from the diningcity website and from reports in the Straits Times. When I came around to making reservations, most of the atas restaurants I wanted were fully booked already boo hoo! Since there's only one of me and so many meals I can eat in a day, I couldn't go to all of them anyway so I chose selectively.
26th Mar 2010 (Dinner) Chiharu
We booked this only on thur night cos p was randomly looking at the website again and realised some ppl gave up their reservation at those atas restaurant. I have not heard or noticed this jap restaurant before I went so I did not know wot to expect.
i didnt take a pix of the outside cos we were famished!!! it's next to impossible to find parking at Chiharu if you come at meal times but thank god there's free valet service! thumbs up! =) so you have to settle for the picture of the interior. This is the bar area. The pix is rather dim but they do have a WIDE variety of sake and souju.
The other side of the restaurant. There's upstairs dining as well. The restaurant still looked empty at 8ish. But ard 9, it was full house and people had to wait to get seats. why do rich people eat so late?
This is the sushi menu! So cute that its in a pix of a fish!!
The regular restaurant menu. The cover is made of solid wood. It was the first time i saw wood if i'm nt wrong. cool.
So since its the restaurant week, there's a fixed menu. This is the lunch/dinner menu. =))
after placing our order. like d'uh we cant even change anything since the menu is fixed. All we did was to change the beef to chicken. the appetizer was served - Zensai. It consisted of eel wrapped in egg. baby squid. homemade tofu with century egg sauce. The babe squid was realli soft yet QQ =)) The egg too is sweet n yummy. I have always wondered if its very difficult to make this kinda egg. My have has gotta b the tofu!!!
A close up of the tofu! Omg. i'm close to drooling as i typed this but i <3<3<3 the century egg sauce. They must have added sth else to it! And i <3 popping the roe in my mouth. *happy*
Hokkigai salad. I usually dont eat salad. But i surprised myself to finish this salad even though it consisted of most of my detested veg. 1) Cucumber 2) Carrots. The vinegar + miso sauce fits to the T.
And of course we order out of the restaurant week menu. i suspect we are pigs in our past life. So here's CHAWAMUSHI!! Almost a must order for me in all Jap restaurants. Its the most unique tasting chawamushi i've tasted, cos the broth is slightly limey kinda tangy instead of the usual chicken broth kinda sweet taste and it is very refreshing. The egg tofu was super smooth as well.
We wanted to try their sushi. P initially suggested california row. So i tot it is super boring so i saw rainbow row. I srsly tot all the sushi is gonna b like the 7 colours of the rainbow. so i was slightly disappointed to see the regular sushi.
But nevertheless, the taste made up for my initial aesthetic disappointment. The sushi rice was really yummy!!! I can taste the vinegar in the sushi rice =) and the ingredients within is realli fresh!!
Our main course. Was slightly disappointed when there was only 1 kind of main course offered. cos our intention was to try as many different kinds of dishes as possible since its usually very pricey and i may not come often enough. O wells. The terayaki chicken was ok. I'm not gonna rave like mad about it cos i tot it was normal. Definitely above average but its just a common dish.
I was kinda surprised they removed my green tea and served me this brown thingy. P said its wheat tea. But whatever. It tasted ok but not sth i'd wanna order myself.
tiramisu ice cream. I had expected more authentic jap dessert but this is nice! =)) It's one of the yummiest ice cream i've had. P was crazy enough to give his up to me. hahahaha.
Overall the food exceed my expectation and i'd love to go back again! =) The chef was formerly from Shiro @Greenwood if it made any difference to anyone. If you make reservation, you will get to sit at the sushi bar area where you enjoy watching the chef preparing the sushi; torching the sashimi etc.
