We feel lonely, sometimes to the point of tears, but we don’t let those tears come because we are not supposed to cry. Or how we feel a surge of love for a partner but we don’t say anything because we’re frozen with the fear of what those words might do to the relationship.

So we stayed at the Mahkota Hotel. The hotel is huge with lotsa facilities incl, mj tables, tennis court, squash court, swimming pool, tennis court, carom room, gym kids play rm.. you get the drift. but the hotel is old.. so since we have a rm, we dont have to pay for parking! =) anyway we woke up super late juz in time for early checkout so we can grab a yummy lunch b4 we head bk to SG!!
our hotel is quite near the eye on msia but as usual we did not get to ride it, i wonder how its like, as in if there are alot of ppl queuing to go up on the eye since its away from the usual tourist trap.
after getting lost for a bit and refueling, we reached our destination!! Nancy's Kitchen! P and I were there on our prev visit and absolutely love it so we juz have to bring the rest to go try it too! its juz off jonker street and they serve nyonya food!
the starter. popiah. chili indicates tt that popiah is spicy =)
the inside. super juicy and yummy! i <333 this popiah!
nyonya fried rice. its nth diff from the usual fried rice, but the taste is definitely yummy! i couldnt get enuff of it!
ngor hiang. everyone loved this!
sambal sotong with petai. this is my fave fave fave. i <3 sambal and this is my first time eating petai! i didnt know its so crunchy! i keep on kiapping more petai for myself! hurhur
prawn omelette. i forgot the exact name but its a distinct nyonya dish too. i found it to be like normal omelette but as usual the rest loved it!
this is my other fave!! its called dau you bak. black sauce pork. super yummy and flavourful! definitely a must order!
salted duck soup. forgot to stir the soup b4 taking a pix. the soup is yummy!
my 3rd fave dish. buakalak chicken. i bet i gt the spelling wrong but the buakalak is the black thing u see in the pix. it actually looks like dried up pong pong fruit, but apparently, the nyonyas dig out the insides, pound them and stir fry them then put it back into the pong pong like shell. its super time consuming and definitely yummier there! it seemed to me like asian caviar. interesting dish.
nyonya chap chye. <3 this veg. ordered this the last time around too =)
and then comes the fanciful desserts. i'm nt a super big fan of nyonya desserts cos i'm nt a fan of gula melaka but the rest love it to bits!
at the back of the restaurant, they sell their own made produce. the cupboard full of blachan and other nyonya stuff.
kueh kueh, ang koo kueh and ondeh ondeh which i bot!
pineapple tarts and kaya! my dad <3 the kaya i bot back!
nyonyas are known for their fanciful color. i think its so interesting to put the rice kueh in alt color patterns =)
and there are even more food! whilst we were dining, lots of singaporeans came in to buy big bags of kuehs and spices to bring home!
theres a real pitcher plant in the restaurat and as usual i'm very fascinated by it and was absolutely delighted to find an insect in it! it was so difficult to zoom in to capture the full glory of the stuck insect. can you see it in the pix?
after all the shopping, we headed back to the car but nt before buying even more kueh from another roadside seller!
and its home sweet home for 2 piggies =)
our tap and go card! the toll there is so much more ex than our erp. =(
not before stopping by jusco to buy some last min groceries. the sushi is damn cheap there!
back at woodlands checkpoint. dreary rain to welcome us back home.
our car was lucky enuff to asked to open our boot etc for spot check. and we tot the queue will be shorter than the usual queue, but we were wrong.
home sweet home enjoying my nyonya chang. super pretty color! i wanna make dumplings this color this coming 端午节too!!
