We feel lonely, sometimes to the point of tears, but we don’t let those tears come because we are not supposed to cry. Or how we feel a surge of love for a partner but we don’t say anything because we’re frozen with the fear of what those words might do to the relationship.

i've bn interested in korean culture, drama, language and food especially after watching all those korean drama reruns on Ch U.. so i'm positively delighted to know that the Korean Tourism Organisation of Singaore organized this Tteokbokki class! Tteokbokki is more commonly know to us as the orangy red korean rice cake dish! and so yesterday, bestie and i took 1/2 day off to attend this class! here are some of the ingredients we used. clockwise from top right, light soy sauce, chili powder, spring onion, onion, chili paste, sugar. basically all things are to be put in proportion unless you want perhaps super spicy or sth! the paste can be bought from those korean supermarket ard the island!
the most impt ingredient is of cos the korean rice cake! they come ready and frozen in a packet available in the super market. before using, juz take the amount out the amount you will eat, defrost it in water for ard 10mins or so and viola it is ready to be used!
while the rice cake is defrosting, we put all the ingredients together, namely the mixers together with 1 cup of water and stir until all the paste blends into the water and then bring the mixture to a boil.
that is when you dump the rice cakes in, cos these frozen rice cakes take a longer time to cook, if you were to use the fresh rice cakes, which i have no idea where you can get from when in singapore, you can put in all the other veg together with the rice cakes.
when the rice cakes are kinda QQ, meaning you can cut thru without too much effort (but not too soft) cos that would have been overcooked, you can put in the rest of the ingredients, apart from spring onion and onions, we also had cabbage and fish cake. so we continue to simmer until all the veggie is soft and the paste thickens.
so this is our absolutely yummy final product! we have a korean classmate Andrew who joined us and he say our Tteokbokki is yummy! so yay! i wanna make it at home soon! <3<3
