Friday, October 29, 2010 Its finally the Co's D&D again! Last year, due to the economic downturn, we had to settle for a family day kinda event. The theme was starstruck! and everyone was encouraged to be glam and outrageous like lady gaga etc which explains the poster! =) The D&D was held in the MBS ballroom! I've been to MBS several times but its my first time in the ball room! Its very glam and pretty! =) The dinner started promptly at 8pm which was good cos the invite told us to reach at 530! I was late and only reached ard 715! Thank god for that if nt i'll juz be wasting my time away! The first course was the usual cold platter. Fish maw soup which I liked as compared to sharksfin soup! =) The soup all came in single bowl so no need to scoop for everyone else! Lotsa fresh ingredients inside too! Steam fish. The usual chinese dinner fare. Roasted chicken with prawn cracker. Stir fried Udon noodles which I felt was so so only. The udon was not QQ anymore which I didnt like. I pref ee-fu mee anytime really! >.< The highlight of the day! Dessert buffet! I <3 I guess its probably there were so few of the normal courses. most dinners nowadays tended to have dessert buffet! I ate this a long time ago then momsy suggested bring gramps and cousins there cos the cuzzies will love the pie=) The ginormous pie! 6 servings! I <3 this totally! each slice is generously filled with chunks of chicken, potatoes and half an egg. We headed to Maxwell hawker and gt my fave fried sweet potato balls! they have the ones with fillings and empty ones. i <3 the empty ones. sinful but so QQ and yummy! Then its chicken rice, Tian Tian. Personally I feel that the chicken rice at my house is as good as Tian Tian but since the queue wasnt crazy, we joined in for some yummy goodness =) Tong Heng egg tart! we can at an awkward timing where all the egg tarts were sold out so we had to wait ard 10mins for the next hot pipping batch! but im not complaining! =) Saw weird dried skin of animals for sale in the chinese medical hall. i wondered wot are the uses for it =) Then onward to City Hall area. The skyline is so beautiful! The otherside of the skyline! =) Bestie was too scared of the frigid cold water in the morning to come in! Its so much less crowded in the morning! After much persuasion, she finally came in for a dip! The 4 of up who make it to the skypool in the morning! The crowded started streaming in at 9ish and we headed to the gym. Oddly, prob cos of space contraint, the gym is split into verious rooms with a pretty lady in each room to guide you to the proper usage of the equipment no less. After driving past it numerous times on the way to the city or to the airport, I've finally got a chance to stay in it! Checkin time was at 3pm. while most other hotels checkin is usually 2pm. but it didnt make a difference to us cos the chinggang was shopping for drinks and snacks at Suntec Carrefour! so we onli checked in at 5pm! A nice warm welcome on the TV =) The room! We got the Atrium Delux room double bed cos there were 9 of us hurhur. The room is actually surprisingly not small. In fact I felt that it was even bigger than the room I stayed at in Venetian in Macau. The toilet is huge, standing shower with weird tap, I still dunno how to switch on the hot water ||-_- The neat toiletries. The toilet with a functional phone. The other phone on the study desk is actually not functional =\ My fave minibar corner! They serve TWG teas! I <3 TWG teabags! =)) too bad there are only 3 of them.. So we wasted no time and headed to the rooftop thereafter cos its the NDP NE show!! Dennis was actually the most excited of all la! He went all the way to the edge of the pool! Thats the nearest to the NDP apart from being in the pool itself while we watched on =) The pool wasnt small but there isnt really space to swim cos everyone chope their good spot at the edge of the infinity pool in order to catch a glimpse of the NDP. so patriotic huh. The view from the other side of the sky park. The on-going construction and the Marina Barrage. We missed the parachuters, they jumped b4 we reached the roof so here's the choppers! We also saw various other planes that zipped past, all of whom I cant name.. The sky is of a beautiful egg yolk colour! =) fantabulous weather for NDP! Photo of most of the chinggang cep leonard at the sky garden! And very soon it was the nightfall! the illuminated pool at night and the super bright area is where the NDP was ongoing. Those ppl in the pool, their skin must be so crinkled from staying in the pool for so long! The MBS Skypark is the best place on earth to view the fireworks and you can see why! It so totally feels like the fireworks is exploding in your face! can you see the size of the fireworks to the humans in the pool! We were all so mesmerized! One of the best fireworks apart from Disney Magic Kingdom Orlando. After all the festivities, we had a simple dinner and movie then retired to the room while some rested and others gamed on.
