Wednesday, March 24, 2010 KL Day3 its our last day in KL or rather half a day cos our bus is at 430pm. so as usual we had KK we bot on fri for brekkie and went for lunch at one of my fave restaurant! that tickle our tastebuds! =) NANDOS!! My fave! its only of the yummiest joint ever! I heart their variety of sauces too!! yums! and the best part is, Nandos is invading SG! there's aldy lotsa fans on their fb page, me incl. <3<3<3 so Nandos rounded up our KL trip. We spent every single cent of RM we changed and bot lotsa stuff from Tangs cos there was 70% sale! I wanna go on another hols soon! =)) Labels: Bt Bintang, JW Mariott, KL, Malaysia, travel Tuesday, March 23, 2010 KL trip Part2 i woke up super late again cos i was plain LAZY. so anyway we got a few brochures from the first day and decided to do this Hop-on-off bus in KL. There's a stop near our hotel. and it cost RM$38 per pax. sitting on the upper deck of the bus... off we hop at Central Mkt which is actually a stone's throw from chinatown =) its juz street market selling traditional crafts etc tt usually appeal to angmohs. we walked til we finally found street food! i <3 street food! =) i'm so happy with the sticks i got. i assume most are variants of fish cakes =) the piggy stick was slightly hard tho' but i'm hungry so its yummy! haha. plus its cheap! we also had food court which is juz normal=) we hopped on the bus after that and reached the National Palace! the place is BEEEEEEG! we didnt' gt off the bus so this was taken frm the bus =) the bus also passed by lotsa plc but it was scorching hot and there was a bad jam so i fell asleep haha. but at least we didnt miss our intended stop! the Petronas Twin Tower! =) The KLCC mall is the other mall where one can use their passport to exchange for tourist discount! =) and its made into such a nice wallet shape!! it opens up to display the card! which i nvr gt to use too haha! =) cos its the GP month, theres this petronas race car in the lobby =) there were alot of ppl taking pix of it. saw this pair of yummy heels in zara but its 300+rm?! Mdm Kwan's for tea as recommended by Wiki haha. cute name card! we ordered the nasilemak to share. yums. i heart the acar, the ikan bilis and the chicken. was kinda surprised the chicken is curry chicken instead of fried chicken tho. and theres the fish flosssss. the rice is juz nice with the coconut's frangrance! omg! yums! but it cost like $7sgd after conversion! walked ard and had tea with johnny depp the mad hatter! =) haha. there was still very much of the alice hype going ard. saw a realli pretty rainbow at the foundtain at one of the mall's entrance before it started raining!! The fountain is huge!! whoever still remember the rotiboy hype in sg? the yummy buttery coffee crusted bun has infiltrated our bakery and became our fixture like the floss bun. but surprisingly theres a queue for it at the branch in KLCC and we happily joined the queue! Fresh off the oven, its totally yummy! =) me and the twin tower in the afternoon. cos i saw other ppl's photos with the twin tower at night, i forced p to sit with me on the steps until nightfalls. slowly getting darker. and darker. the bridge at p's fingertips =) me and one random bldg near klcc. i was waiting for p to get up from the lying down position cos that was the only position available in order to capture the full glory of the tower. which explains y i was biting my lip. i was hungry n bored. we hop on to the on-off bus again and passed by the KL tower. it was already closed by then thus we only took the pix from the bus=) went bk to the rm to refresh ourselves and was surprised with clean laundry! i <3 clean laundry! =) went down to Jln Alor for dinner as recommended on several forums. its basically a street with lotsa czechar and tourist. so we tried to look for a more harmless stall. wonton mee. it was juz ok. nth fab. orh jian. i dont like kl's orh jian cos it didnt have the starchy sticky thing we do over here. however they are really generous with their oyster. so its juz eating fried egg+oyster. grilled stingray. i didnt understand y there was no sambal chili. so it was dry n nt nice. we went bk to the hotel to meet bestie after tt cos we are going for supper with her n her boss! like who has supper RIGHT after their dinner? bbq chicken wings. fried hokkien mee. omg this hokkien mee is 100XXX nicer than the one we ate at chinatown. it has lard inside which i accidentally bit into. its super yummy! fried hokkien beehoon. i totally love beehoon! i think i finished most of this dish! so yummy food + 10 cups of liang teh later, we went for foot massage! her nice boss brought us to this massage which is open til 5am! her boss himself drank 4 cups of liang teh.. me and bestie looking happy cos we are having foot massages again! the service there is damn gd la! there's free icecream (dragonfruit flavour-i didnt realise it until after the massage when the icecream melted), fruits platter and orange juice! its RM$52.50 for a 45 mins session. and this black pillow thingy is wot they put on our lower back. its hot stones thingy which is very relaxing. and they also gave a hot stone neck pillow to put on our shoulder during the massage. the tiny foot is the thing we have to bring to the counter to pay our bill. and the place is huge. we were there ard 2ish am so there werent alot of customers. but this is juz part of the palour. they also offer lotsa other service like chinese cupping and gua sha which i wanted to try but didnt dare to in the end. p gt to change cos he was doing a full body massage. this is the name of the massage place and its so apt tt their slogan is where kings relax. but i'm princess wor. how? Labels: Bt Bintang, JW Mariott, KL, Malaysia, travel Monday, March 22, 2010 12th - 14th Mar KL Part 1 this has gotta like the first time i do a full blog travelling post kinda thing. in the past I'll b too lazy and do one collage for all my trips. so here goes 11th night 11pm. p and i took the Grassland bus to Bt Imbi @ KL. It stops right outside Berjaya Times Sq(bjts) under the monorail station so its very convenient. We got this superior class i think for a pretty decent price! $35 per pax cos apparently there's a discount? We settled for grassland cos we checked out Konsortium and 5* but they could not accommodate to our schedule. Me in my gdbye sg shot! The seat is super spacious. I can recline all the way down without affecting the pax behind me <3<3 the only gripe is that they dint give headphones for movies. like?! instead the speakers are at the side of the headrest. OK my head is not so big enuff to have both ears stick to both panels of the headrest so i had such a difficult time trying to watch state of play by i think russell crowe? (i didn't even gt past the front credits) that i slept all the way after the msia customs til i reached KL! it was totally shiok! so anyway its good going in on thur cos the custom is empty. at the msia side, the dude doing the bag scan wasn't even at his station and the scanner wasn't even running so all of us juz bypassed it. JW Mariott! cos bestie was there for work trip, we bunked in with her! This is her side of the bed! the room was so spacious that it had 2 queensize bed!!!! =) lovely! so anyway we reached the rm at 530am. we actually walked from bjts to our hotel. it was both our first time to kl so we were totally clueless on how to walk plus we heard so many scary stories abt snatch theft etc. so i tot we were realli brave to walk the distance. the distance is nt actually that long if you were to walk in the daytime. =) its abt fr raffles plc mrt to unclesam on cecil st. so the best part abt staying at JW is that the Pavilion is juz opposite! =) its similar to our Paragon (at least ion has some affordable shops at the basement) the huge ass fountain outside shopping malls. wots with malls and fountains outside. anyway there'll b throngs of ppl crowding it at night so i guess cos it was Fri afternoon, we are the only shoppers there =) the bt bintang entrance of the mall =) the best thing abt being tourist is that there are some discounts that are extended especially to ya =) so with our passports in hand, we gt this tourist discount card at the concierge *beams* however it wasnt exactly useful to us cos we are nt atas ppl who snap up branded overseas. ||-_- by the time we reach woke up it was time for lunch. P suggested Fridays cos its Friday! =) I'm a happy camper coz i havent gt the chance to try the one at heeren even though it has been opened since forever. boneless wings for starters. this is juz normal fried chicken with ranch sauce. i love ranch. p finished all the celery cos i abhor celery. felt slightly cheated by the name cos it said boneless wings but it was breast meat. i revisited the menu thereafter then realised they did indeed described it as breast meat. but why the wings in the name?! Chicken & Shrimp Diablo it tasted not too bad. but it wasnt fantastic. i think we can get equally good standard in local PizzaHut joint. nevertheless we finished the pasta cos we were famished! Southwest Adobo Chicken This came with sweet potato fries and jalapeno chilisauce dip. i cant realli comment on the taste of this chicken cos we overordered thinking tt bestie may join us. haha. so we nvr gt to touch the chicken at all cos the portions were AMERICAN sized and were so big til we ATETILLWECOULDNOTWALK. so all i tried was the sweetpotato fries. the fries were not too bad. overall Fridays is juz any other American joint which i may nt go back again even tho its cheaper than sg/us. I pref Chilies! =) so we walked around empty handed in the mall cos there stuff are mostly too upmarket. we did see a few lame giftshops similar to precious tots that we took a walk in and had the harrowing experience of having the salesgirl following us every inch we took. like please, i'm nt gonna steal your stuff ||-_- it was a major turnoff. we sat down for dessert after tt, this is some grassjelly thingy from TW. cos from wot i understood quite a handful of msians actually go to tw to further their studies which explains the influx of tw food =) the grey/orange thingy are sweetpotato and yam moochi. yummy! i <3 this. i think theres sth similar in sg cos i rem eating it b4 =) walked over to LOT10 and Sungei Wang Plaza after the pavilion. That cross junction has lotsa billboards! It actually looks not bad at night =) Pontian wonton mee. i think pontian is in johore? anyway i juz wanted to try is pontian in msia is nicer than that in sg. we had it in darksauce+chilie+ketchup. Shiok! =) The wonton noodies there seem to have lesson wontons than sg. there's only 2 fried wonton and 2 soup wonton but the price is the same after conversion. the noodles are indeed quite QQ =)) roller coaster at bjts=) read abt this theme park in the mall. its on the 5th -7th storey of the mall =) you juz have to pay entrance and you can gt on umlimited rides. there werent alot of ppl watching nor playing. i guess it doesnt realli appeal to the locals. but its cool! reminded me of NewYorkNewYork in Vegas where there's the roller coaster that goes out of the hotel and into it=) We too didnt gt on the coaster as it wasnt fun when its so empty =) Krispy Kreme at bjts =) there staff there were rather camera shy! look at the artery clogging oil! the yummilicious end pdt XD and of cos we didnt leave KK empty handed =) this was our brekkie for the nxt 2d =) Jln Petaling aka chinatown at night. we took a cab there fr our hotel and it costed 15rm cos we dont speak malay thus they refused to go by meter. had a boring conversation with the cabbie abt rws+genting+forbes mag. KL chinatown is the most boring place on earth cos all it sells are fake bags watches and shoes and i want none of that. but we came for this much raved luo han guo drink! its at the a cross junction if you ever walk in near in front of hong leong bank. its the bestest i've ever tasted!!! there are bits of i think luo han guo inside!! =) yumyum! +++ its good for the body to reduce the heatiness too! =) hokkien mee at this cze char opp the luohan guo drink stall from recommendation from flowerpod =) its nice. sg have this hokkien mee too but it doesnt taste this good definitely! but its nt the best we tasted in KL. coz it was very crowded at the czechar, the owner was thoughtful enuff to print lame jokes on the back of its menu to keep lame me entertained =) had A&W and foot massage to end the day when bestie finally came bk! =)) tt was ALOT of food in a day! of cos we did gt some stuff from the shops in the end, mostly foodstuff from supermarket that's nt avail in sg and handcreams. i <333 hand creams! =) Part 2 up tmr! =) Labels: Bt Bintang, JW Mariott, KL, Malaysia, travel
