esther, 161186We feel lonely, sometimes to the point of tears, but we don’t let those tears come because we are not supposed to cry. Or how we feel a surge of love for a partner but we don’t say anything because we’re frozen with the fear of what those words might do to the relationship. -Mitch Albom My tweets

I read in 8days last week that from now till Dec 2010, selected food outlets in Sentosa have food promotions! So in case you do not know yet, you can log on to http://www.sentosadining.com.sg/ to read more about it! So after looking through some not so attractive offers, I've shortlisted 3 restaurants I wanna try and this is one of them! So I dated bestie and along we headed to Shutters! It's not too troublesome for her since she works there ||-_- We had the 1 for 1 lunch set @ $48++ and the 1st course was the bread! The bread is refillable too! =) We chose to sit outside alfresco and we had the entire place to ourselves! cozy max! There's 2 kinds of bread, a wheatgrain one and a fried spring onion bread! The one I'm holding up is the fried spring onion bread! I <3 fried spring onion! It made the bread 100X more fragrant! I was so tempted to eat more! Pumpkin Soup! Bestie felt that it tasted weird, but I thought it was okay. Its the watery kind which was good for me, cos if its too creamy, I'll get full very fast! =) Issit the halloween thingy going on, alot of restaurants are serving up pumpkin soup lately! My main of pan seared sea bass. I <3 the mash potato at the base and finished all my greens! Asaparagus is good for health! The seabass is juz nice too! =) Bestie's half chicken! This taste not bad too, Its well done all around with a hint of pink in the middle as wot bestie described. Its how a good cook is supposed to cook his meat! Although both the mains are good, we felt that there was nothing really outstanding or screaming at us to go back again! Our dessert was chempadek creme brulee! The restaurant manager was super nice to strike a conversation with us and asked if we knew wot was a chempadek! I said its a jackfruit but he said its a cousin or sth, not sure if its the maternal side or paternal side hurhur. But this was the best creme brulee I've had! the burnt part have this popping thingy, if you lived in Singapore long enough, there used to be this lollipop shaped in a feet and you get to dip into this salt thingy where the salt will go popping away in your mouth! That's wot they used in the burnt part! Its so amazingly cool and interesting! There are bits of chempadek at the bottom as well! Bestie was totally raving at this! =) I cant wait to try more of other restaurants in Sentosa before the offer ends!! =) Shutters Address: 1 Larkhill Road, Amara Sanctuary @Sentosa Labels: amara santuary, food, sentosa, shutters Wednesday, October 13, 2010
Segway: The leader in personal, green transportation, transforming the way you work, play and live. Finally got to try Segway at Sentosa last saturday! Its kinda fun but i'm damn scared I'd fall down! So I'm travelling slower than I'd walk! hurhur. P and I got to get on the Segway for free as part of this GV movie deal but its only for the course withing the Segway office itself. The usual price of the course we did is S$12. Theres totally nothing to see, its just for you to practise using the Segway probably! Cos I was so slow, I caused a little big of human jam towards the end of the course hurhur. These machines seemed pretty fun and pricey at approx USD$8k each! There's also an option of Eco Tour around Sentosa priced at $36! I dont think I'd be able to do that. I'd rather walk! P on the Segway! He looks kinda scared here as well but after a while he zipped off and disappeared while I was struggling away =\ Labels: activity, segway, sentosa Friday, September 24, 2010
Wavehouse: 2nd visit but i've yet tried the flow rider.. This time we were there for Octoberfest celebrations! We were nt sure why the Octoberfest was held in sept but there were quite a few celebs sighting! =) Octoberfest = Great German Food + Good Beer! This was wot i took! I'm such a glutton but the pork knuckle and the german sausage with sweet mustard is damn nice! A veal roasting on the skewer! It was huge, I cannot imagine the crowd could finish eating it! Dessert time! I <3 the apple strudle. I was a little upset that I was unable to get 2nd serving thereafter. The berries soaked in alcohol is yummy too! fun, fun people watching at the wavehouse @ sentosa =) spending sunset at the beach along sentosa is juz so nice and serene. it'd have bn perfect if the beach is prettier without so many tankers in sight. here's the flowrider. the simpler one where you can boogey board =) those who are nt pro tend to juz stay here. =) and here is where the pros are. the flow barrel. we stood there to observe for sometime and this dude is the most pro!!! he could ride the wave and come out and do those 360 degrees stunt! the best part is tt, hes kinda cute. hurhur =)) i wanna go wavehse to play too!!! cant wait for my leave! but the real reason for us going there is really the wavehouse flea. i <3 flea mkt but i realise i seldom buy anything fr there. the stuff tt i set my sight on are still too ex in my opinion. bestie was super nice and treated us to dinner at the wavehse restaurant! =)) the bread to start off the meal. i'm starting to like balsamic vinegar with bread. their butter is super delish!! i <3 the round butter bun toasted to juz nicely warm. yums! seafood chowder. this is in fact quite yummy! =) i love to have soup to go wif my meals =) crispy chicken tt i ordered. this is yummy too! cos there's calamasi for us to squirt on top plus the thai sweet chili sauce. ah *heaven* roast duck pizza. this is as good as timbre's. i very much prefer thin crust pizza and i love the peking duck sauce=) lap cheong pasta. this came as highly recommended by bestie so i had high standards for it and it definitely didnt disappoint! i think the blend of chinese shitake mushroom and lap cheong is perfect. i want to try to make this myself too! =) grilled fish. apart from the greens tt i dont eat, we finished all the mashed potatoes and such. this reminded me of the cliff's standard. this is nt bad at all! =) while waiting for their dessert, i took in the deco of the restaurant. there ceiling have all these bamboo deco, and according to bestie, there were instances whereby those bamboo fell down during meal times, luckily it followed the durian theory and so no one was hurt at all! so those bamboo have eyes =) i noticed that very few restaurants make the effort to deco their ceiling cos very few patrons bother to look up anyway, so i am especially with restuarants who pay attention to their ceiling cos i am the odd one who love to look at ceiling hehe. finally! our dessert! bestie ordered this even though we are mad mad mad full. this warm chocolate cake. this is a good combi cos the tcc kind is juz like warm chocolate cake + icecream. this has slices of mango and pomelo (my fave) and caramel on it! this is really good! i definitely will go back there again! 36 Siloso Beach Walk Level 1 Sentosa Labels: food, sentosa, wavehouse Wednesday, April 07, 2010
so it was The Cliff. Anyway, it has always been always the only restaurant I wanted to visit. I have not heard of anyone singing praises abt this restaurant or bn to this restaurant, but part of me juz know tt i wanna go to this restaurant. prob subconsciously, i imagine tt i'll b eating off a cliff *hurhur* i was quite disappointed when i realised the cliff was fully booked when i first went into the restaurant wk website, so i was over the moon when p told me last min on thur tt some kindhearted soul gave up their reservation! Thanks whoever you are! =)) The outside of the restaurant. we had to walk a long way from the lobby of the hotel to the restaurant. how well said, but i love life and dont enjoy oyster. Tada the restaurant wk menu! =)) the pix in this entry is a lil dim cos the night mode of lx3 is nt fantastic. it gt me wanting to gt a s90 =\ as with all western restaurant, there is the dip. olive oil. and the reddish powdery thing is curry powder as far as my tastebuds could discern cos i have no idea wot the waiter said. some super chim name. tasted nt bad even though it looks majorly weird. and the bread. the one on the left is the wheat which i didnt like as with all other wheat bread, so p finished it for me. the one in the foreground looked like danish pastry but its nt. its rolled up bread with sauteed onions inside. tasted nt bad actually. and of cos the one on the right is the good ol french loaf. they offer free refills when we finished! good service =\ of course we have to save space for the food later. =) complimentary dish whose name i didnt manage to catch again so p and i were left wondering wot we were eating but i guess its smoked some kinda sashimi like fish? we were feeling rich tt day so we order oyster. of cos instead of the conventional ones, we chose unique ones. from the left to right. first is oyster in tomato puree concoction, oyster with fruits, oyster with chawamushi on top (like how did they even pull it off?), lastly oyster with eggs and caviar. i tried the chawamushi and eggs, they were both yummy. of cos i didnt eat the oyster! but i had fun taking pix of p attacking the 4 oyster. sweetcorn soup from the restaurant wk menu. the soup is really thick and i could taste tt they blended the corn cos i can tasted the blended bits. in a way it made the soup b thick and creamy unlike Campbell soup but it gt my throat quite itchy so i passed it to p again haha. so anyway p and i could order another dish each, it was our secret agreement, so obv the oyster is ordered by him. so this is ordered by meeemeemee! i've always bn intrigued by the 101 ways you can cook an egg, fried, poached, sunnyside up, none of which i've mastered. so the name of this dish is 65degrees egg. of cos we made sure we asked the waiter wot it was in case we are juz ordering some ordinary dish. but apparently the dishes there are all but ordinary. so this is named as such because the egg is kept at 65degrees throughout the entire cooking process! The stick is juz cheese stick with sweet cream. closeup of egg. the sauce is truffle oil. super yummy. the egg turned out to be super cool. like its neither runny nor powdery. its almost jellylike! amazing! yummy =) finally we came to our main course! we were quite relief it was a small portion as we were both quite full aldy from all the food experiments earlier. its chicken breast! i dont usually like chicken breast even tho its less fattening. but this is by far the yummiest chicken breast i've had. i was waiting for p to give up this chicken breast to me but he didnt ||-_- the whitish foam this is vinegar. weird. i love the mash potato below the leaves and the baked potato slices to bits!! =) double yums! finally, we come to a sweet ending with the dessert. there's a dark chocolate slice, dark choc ice cream & macaroon. i have always tot it was the macaroons i ate in the past tt were of lousy quality, but after the cliff, i realised, the problem lies in me, i dislike the texture of macaroons in general but i finished the other 2!! =) i'm kinda sad the restaurant wk came to a close. overall i'd definitely go back to all the 4 restaurants again esp chiharu if vitamin m allows. the food is juz so yummy! =) p pref julien bompard amongst all the restaurants.
